Magnificent Oak Flemish Buffet

It is said that for years after the English occupation of New Amsterdam the inhabitants of Dutch extraction clung to the use of furniture, which showed strong Dutch characteristics. Artists, such as Pieter Bruegal the Elder, had tremendous influence over the cabinetmakers of the day. Bruegalesque peasant scenes are common on much of this furniture. This buffet is a wonderful example of the highest level of craftsmanship practiced in this region. Each individual cabinet door has been carved with the most incredible scenes of peasant life. The faces of the drawers are also solid carved pieces of oak. A unique handle, which features the famous Flemish scroll, is carved on these wonderful pieces. The drawers are lined with velvet for your fine silver. Two columns support the magnificently carved backsplash. This backsplash also features the Flemish scroll. Beautiful seashell accents adorn the massive feet of this gorgeous piece. This piece deserves a place of honor in your home as one of the finest antiques we have ever seen!
