Antique Henri Ii Style Pitch Pine Bedstead

This is the similar copy of a bed that you can see in a catalog of furniture that was being offered for sale in Brussels between 1860 and 1900. It is very interesting to notice the price at the time, offered for 450 Belgian Francs for the entire bedroom set, which now is about $2!!! See how much you would have earned if you had bought then! The bed is a heavy pitch pine, indigenous to Europe, and super quality. The construction is in three beveled panels, with a decorative row of finials across both the headboard and footboard, with four large finials atop each end. The middle headpiece in the center of the headboard is beautifully carved, including the rose medallion in the center, with high wings and a large center finial. It is an extremely handsome bed, and one that is valuable as an antique, in excellent condition. It would make an impressive statement in the guest bedroom, definitely saying that you are ready to welcome guests with the best you have, and in a family bedroom it will always be an heirloom. Imported from Belgium, of course! Footboard: 51" wide, 49" tall Headboard: 51" wide, 6 2" tall Mattress: 42" wide, 73.5" long
