Fantastic Antique Bretons Style Bedframe

This is nothing short of wonderful! it was made in around 1860 in the northwestern part of France, in a county called Brittany, and has since come to be known as "Breton's". The style is unique to that region of France, on the western coast where seafaring was the industry. It is a dark solid oak, HAND CARVED EVERY INCH!!! The scenes are of the people of the area, in their old fashioned folk costumes, including wide brimmes hats, and dresses. Look at the wonderful scenes on the footboard of the bed, and then notice the arch in the center with is curve of finials. This was meant to represent the helm of a ship, which is also repeated on the crown of the headboard. Notice the excellent carving on the crown of the headboard with the windmill at the top and the two mken back to back. Underneath you find the face of a man and a wide band of repeated ovals. There are carved medalions on the side above the two long lathe turned, fluted columns, which are also repeated on the footboard as well. Even the side boards are carved the entire length--FABULOUS! This is definitely a bed you will treasure for always, it will increase in value dramatically, as these sets become more and more rare, and let's face it--it is just plain INCREDIBLE! Who wouldn't be pleased to sleep in such a treasure?? FREE SHIPPING Headboard: 62.5" tall, 57" wide Footboard: 38" tall, 57" wide Mattess: 75" x 52"
