Massive Oak Bruegal Buffet

The greatest of the Flemish sixteenth-century masters of genre was Pieter Bruegel the Elder. We know little of his life except that he had been to Italy, like so many northern artists of his time, and that he lived and worked in Antwerp and Brussels, where he painted most of his pictures in the 1560s. The 'kind' of painting on which Bruegel concentrated was scenes from peasant life. He painted groups of peasants, merrymaking, feasting, working and going about the tasks of their daily lives. The furniture that bears his name is usually adorned with this type of carving, as is this incredible buffet. Dovetailed drawers with all original brass finial hinges and drawer handles are sure signs of the timeless craftsmanship used in this piece. Look at the amazing carvings on the columns and cabinet doors! The center panel features musicians playing their instruments while the outer panels show men and women dancing! The figure of a man and a woman grace the columns! Think of the stories that could be told about these vignettes! Other features such as cup and saucer legs and an elaborately carved apron elevate this piece from commonality to a state of exquisite grace! Imagine how wonderful it would look in your dining room! Lots of space to serve your delicious dishes on top and plenty of storage in the blind cupboards and drawers below! This is the perfect piece to impress all your dinner guests when entertaining. However you decide to use this piece you are sure to fall in love with her old world beauty!
