The period of European furniture known as the Tudor period is widely regarded as the age of oak. English oak cut from the heart of the tree was the principal wood at that time both for furniture and for buildings, although some of the other native woods were used to some extent. Strength and solidity were characteristics of the period, and furniture of great magnificence was made to furnish the important houses in England. Nearly all of that furniture was lost during the Civil War of the 17th century. There was a very limited amount of variety in furniture. The Tudor rose and linen-fold paneling are characteristic of this period. Tudor furniture retains the Gothic structure but adds much Renaissance carving and some inlay. These chairs feature many signature characteristics of the Tudor style. The cup and saucer legs and solid oak frames are sure signs of this style. Look at the magnificent rush seats. They are in impeccable condition. Every inch of the frames is carved to perfection. Look at the clever ribbon like accents—amazing! These chairs feature two large captain style chairs to be placed at the head of the table. Imagine how wonderful these chairs will look in your home! However you decide to use these treasures, you are sure to fall in love with their old world charm! Measures (small) 39” tall, 18.5” wide, 17.5” deep, 18” floor to seat (large) 39” tall, 24” wide, 24” deep, 18” floor to seat
