Two Extraordinary Antique Art Deco Style Side Tables
These are two absolutely wonderful side tables, with a surprise safe behind the door of one of them. They both lock with a key, and you need a separate key to unlock the safe behind the door. I think this is an interesting comment on the times that these tables were made. If you think about these tables being made in approximately 1920’s you realize that World War I just ended in about 1918, and the recession was on it’s way by the 1930’s. This was a very turbulent time to live in, and things were uncertain. It is a natural idea to have special hideaways to secure a few things, because everything could be gone in a sweep of time during those years of history. The tables themselves are made of a beautiful golden oak, with solid construction of raised panels on all three sides. The front doors feature an arrow type design with flowers carved inside. They sit on four fluted teardrop shape feet, and are topped with a gorgeous thick beige marble heavily veined with shades of brown. They are an extra bonus because they are a matched pair, which is a rare thing to find these days. Think how gorgeous they would be on either side of the bed, or on either side of your favorite sofa. They are beautiful, great quality and have such an ambiance of nostalgia about them, they will always be your favorite treasure!
