Beautiful Louis Xvi Bed Frame
During the reign of Louis XVI, the last of the great French monarchs before the Revolution, furnishings changed a great deal from previous reigns. In years past, curves and cabriole legs were common, cabinetmakers and craftsmen during this time created pieces with more straight lines and accents. Ormolus were found in abundance, and some of the most beautiful furniture in history was created. This bed is an excellent example of this style. You will immediately notice the absolutely gorgeous woodwork on the head and footboards. Inlays and carvings adorn this wonderful piece. Brass ormolus accent the corners of the headboard and are found throughout the curved footboard. The lathe turned legs are fabulous. This piece is what dreams are made of!
