Handsome Vintage Empire Style Dining Room Table
Everything about this table is SMOOTH! It is a vintage set that was popular everywhere around the late 1940's, early 1950's. Some of the sets were very bad quality, and some were excellent. Of course, this is one of the sets that were made of excellent quality, both in materials and finish. When I say smooth, I mean that the lines are very simple and flowing, with long tapered legs trimmed with brass caps. The top of the table is a beautiful high gloss mahogany that highlights the gorgeous grain of the wood perfectly. There are two extensions that are literally tucked away underneath, with small hand grooves, for you to easily pull out on either end and extend the seating by another four people!!! (Note: the extensions are each 20.5" long, but they do not have the high gloss finish of the main top of the table. They fit perfecftly into the rounded oval of the edges, and gives you a very smooth top.) This is a table for those of very distinguished taste and style, definitely a winner!!!
