Stylish Antique Louis Xv Rocaille Style Armoire Wardrobe
This is an absolutely beautiful armoire, in a totally classic style that will always be popular! The first thing you notice are the stunning wide beveled mirrors on all three of the front doors! The middle door is full length, and the other two half size. These mirrors will work miracles in a room. We have two armoires against our bedroom wall, and they only have one middle mirror each, and I was amazed at how much these mirrors opened the room, and made everything seem so spacious and light! The wood of this armoire is a high quality European golden oak, solid and beautiful! Also very impressive is the carved "coquillage" top that crowns the wide curved cornice across the top of the armoire. In French, the word "coquillage" applies to this type of top because it resembles the top feathers of a rooster, which is called "coq" in French. Actually this styling was a forerunner to the ornate rococco styling that came later. It has an intricately carved flared and curved seashell surrounded by scroll work and flowers. Now notice the lovely curved raised paneling of the two lower dove-tailed drawers, and the ornate original brass handles that match the escutcheons over the key holes. Inside you find that it is completely open, and offers ample room for shelves to be made, or a rod to be placed across the top for hanging clothes. This is definitely a very classy piece of furniture and one that is guaranteed to be beautiful wherever it is placed, and surely will increase in value dramatically as the years go by!
