Charming Antique French Style Drop Leaf Secretary
This is the classic charm of the French Louis XV style with the long thin cabriole legs, carved at the knees and curved at the feet. Notice the ornate latice work carving with the flared seashell garnishing the center. Behind the drop front are charming little cubby holes with curved shelves and little pull out boxes, perfect for stashing all of your treasures and important valuables! There are two pulls that come out from underneath that support the drop down front to make it a very serviceable writing surface--this is a great way to combine form and function, style and service! YES! There are two dove-tailed drawers down the front, carved and trimmed with curved raised panels, and set off with ornate brass handles, perfecft for the design. Notice the little brass covers over the keyholes on the drawers and top. The siders are solid oak panels, in fact the entire piece is solid oak--straight from the craftsmen in Belgium who are incredibly skilled in this very French style.
