Original Oil On Canvas Framed Painting
This is a striking painting of two women worshiping at a humble shrine in the countryside where they have been harvesting the sheaves. During the three years that I lived in Germany, I would often ride my bike through the fields, and many times I saw small little houses built like this, sometimes with a statue of the madonna, or other saints inside, and small offerings left by the local people, of fruit or flowers or other things. I felt like somehow it dedicated the fields to success in their growth, and I also felt like it must have been working, because the fields always yielded an incredible harvest. I like the stark blue of the sky with the shrine silhouetted against it, and the humble and holy feeling that is given by the women there. This is a wonderful painting to bring charm and old world character to your home, and appreciate the talent of this artist, J. Edwards, who was once a student at the Academie des Beaux Arts in Brussels.
