Incredible Antique Louis Xiv Sideboard Buffet
Created by old-world craftsmen to be both elegant and functional, this magnificent sideboard is outstanding. Three large, locking cupboard doors dominate the lower portion of this piece, each accented by two square panels and ornate escutcheons. Within the panels, masterfully carved lion heads jut out almost two inches. The upper section features a smaller, locking cabinet behind two doors fronted with a beautiful combination of emerald leaded stained glass and circular, green “bottle glass” accents. On either side of the upper cabinet, two right-angle alcoves add counter space for things that need to be accessible. Over the tops of these spaces, a dramatically arched trim puts the final touches on the piece with the help of a large, overhanging cornice.
