Jacobean style is an early phase of English Renaissance architecture and decoration. It formed a transition between the Elizabethan and the pure Renaissance style later introduced by Indigo Jones . The reign of James I a disciple of the new scholarship, saw the first decisive adoption of Renaissance motifs in a free form communicated to England through German and Flemish carvers rather than directly from Italy. Although the general lines of Elizabethan design remained, there was a more consistent and unified application of formal design. These two stylish set of chairs are Jacobean at its best. With high backs and deeply grooved curved arms, you will find these chairs not only beautiful but comfortable too. The upholstery we do not believe is the original, but it is still older but in wonderful condition. The colors are gorgeous—muted taupe, green, and rose. It is finished with nail head trim.
