Two Handsome Carved Oak Side Tables

These are extremely good looking side tables in a matched set, crafted in a beautiful golden oak. There is a top drawer, with a dove-tailed joint and a fluted top panel that matches nicely with the two fluted sides of the cabinet. The front door is a nicely framed raised panel, and notice the pretty brass handles that match the door and drawer—original to the piece. There are four hand lathe-turned columns that support the cabinet of the table, and a nice shelf at the bottom, perfect for displaying your books, or plants or ceramics. The tables are topped by a white marble, and actually they don't quite match because one of the tops was broken in shipping, and we completely replaced it with another top, but they were such a close match that we decided to keep them as a set. I think the white marble is very handsome against the golden oak, and provides a stunning contrast that gives a very classy look. These tables are from the turn of the century and are solid, ready to be used and enjoyed and then handed down to posterity—that's the glory of antiques. They just get more valuable all the time!
