Antique French “la Chasse” Tapestry
This incredible tapestry depicts several lords and ladies on a traditional hunt. In Victorian times, the hunt was an important social event in the lives of the aristocracy. The lords would dress in their best and ride on fine steeds while the ladies, also dressed to the nines, would follow close behind to give support and to commiserate with each other. Special cottages were kept for the sole purpose of the hunt. The event was a major social event for the villages where the hunt took place.
