Oil On Canvas Framed Painting

This is an extremely interesting study in humanity, that was probably done by one of the art students at the Art Academy in Brussels. We often find copies of classic paintings done by these students, for sale at the flea markets in Belgium. I am interested in this one because it reminds me of another character that I see when we go to a certain flea market in a little town called Putte. It takes place every Wednesday evening, and we always find a little man who shows up at the entrance of the flea market (which is indoors) with his organ, and his little cup and winds the organ to play music. He wears wooden clogs, and rustic farmer's clothing, and has a little mishapen face, but he always smiles at me when I see him. I wonder what kind of life he has had and what has brought him to be the organ grinder. This painting represents such a character in ages gone by whose life was probably not the happiest, but I am sure that the music he made brought him some kind of consolation. Who knows???
