Antique Malineoise Style Oak Side Table

This is a truly handsome dark oak side table in the "Malineoise" style, whose trade mark became the carved lionheads that framed many of their pieces. This type of furniture was made between 1860 and 1900 in a town called Maline in northern Belgium, and they became famous throughout Europe for their style and construction. This table is a very dark solid oak, with a beautiful white marble top, giving a gorgeous contrast of light and dark. There is a top drawer, and underneath a small cabinet with a front door with a good looking front panel, framed by two fluted sides. Supporting the cabinet are four lathe turned columns with a space for display or storage underneath. The two lionheads frame the top drawer and are truly awesome. Don't forget to notice the ornate brass pull on the drawer--original to the piece. A side table like this is invaluable, and can be used absolutely anywhere from the side of the bed, to the entry way. It is a striking antique you will love immediately and use forever. -c828oc84
