Massive Bruegal Buffet

Dark, sultry and stylish, this incredible buffet is a superb piece of cabinetry. Made from fine European oak, this piece is exquisitely carved to showcase the skill and fine craftsmanship. The first thing you will notice is the drawers; deep, detailed carvings of cottages are carved into the thick wood. This piece is done in a style known as Bruegal; named after Pieter Bruegal the elder, a 16th century Flemish artist who painted peasants in their everyday lives. Certain furniture such as this buffet of Flemish origin bear carvings that resemble Bruegal’s work. You will notice the scenes carved on raised panels on the doors peasant men and women working and relaxing. Two figures stand as columns on either side of the center cabinet. Heavy brass hinges, a fancy backsplash and more detail that can be believed grace this cabinet. This piece truly needs to be seen to be appreciated. oc306
