Incredible Egyptian Revival Buffet

Egyptian Revival is (primarily) a style that references the visual motifs and imagery of Ancient Egypt. It has never been enormously common, unlike Greek revival or Victorian was, but it has left its mark. There were several waves. The first wave was inspired by Napoleon's expedition to Egypt, and was mainly limited to furniture and associated decorative objects. It developed a special popularity later in the century as being particularly appropriate in mortuary contexts, as with cemetery gates. Furniture from this style was included in the style that came to be known as Empire. This buffet is an excellent example of this style. Made from mahogany, brass and fine glass, this piece is quite beautiful. The book-matched grain on the doors is incredible, accented with beautiful brass ormolus. The pillars feature the head and feet of a woman cast in brass and joined with a large mahogany column. The incredible center display case is stunning! three shelves offer plenty of space to store your fine china or favorite volumes. The massive construction of this piece is unbelievable! Wouldn’t this buffet make a splash in your dining room or parlor? This piece would be perfect for your home. c331oc100
