Exquisite Antique Louis Xvi Oak Side Table
This is a fabulous example of why Louis XVI style has lasted through the centuries and has been well loved by everyone. Look at the exquisite carvings on the top drawer, and the sides and the front of the bottom door. Flowers and garlands are the primary motifs, with wonderful raised panels on all sides. Look at the small fluted teardrop shape legs that support the piece. You can't help admiring the beauty of the deep dark oak that was used in it's construction. The hardware is original to the piece, and matches the tassels that are carving on the front. It is also very nice to have such a wide space between the top drawer and the bottom door. Just think how great that is for displaying books or curios of all kinds. It is topped by a beautiful piece of white marble with gray veining, which offers an excellent contrast in light and dark.
