Spectacular Antique Louis Xvi Style Dresser
This is truly an impressive piece of furniture. Starting at the top you will find a detailed carved crown featuring the garlands that are so famous in the Louis XVI style furniture. Underneath the crown you see a wide molded cornice, above another carved garland with ribbons, sitting on top of the three way beveled mirror. There are two long lathe turned columns on either side of the mirror, matching the same lathe turned columns that frame the bottom of the dresser. It is such a good idea to have the mirrors divided into three , because the two side mirrors are on hinges and can give you the side and back view you need to have. A very incredible feature of this dresser is the exquisite white marble top and back splash. Notice that it is curved across the top and on both sides. It is thick with beautiful gray veining throughout, and provides a striking contrast against the dark color of the oak. The chest consists of two drawers at the top, and three drawers underneath, with a side door for accent. All the doors are grooved, and have elaborately molded brass handles, original to the piece. Don't forget to notice the bottom apron, with it's subtle curved pattern. This is a piece from the turn of the century, so already you have at least a hundred years in age, and value!
