The furniture designs of both Dutch and Flemish furniture were influenced strongly by the French styles of the Huguenot refugees, who fled from France following the Revocation of the Edict of Nantes. Marquetry was much used for ornamentation and the variety of furniture was greatly increased. Ball feet as a support for cabinets, bureaus (desks) etc. are typically Dutch. The "bombe" or swell front, also Dutch, was used extensively on such pieces as chests of drawers, bureaus, wardrobes and cabinets. This beautiful bookcase showcases several of the attributes that make Dutch furniture wonderful. Made from a beautiful selection of oak, this piece is lovely. Look at the incredible carvings on the lower cabinet doors—awesome! Your eye will be instantly drawn to the stunning leaded glass display case. The glass in these eye-pleasing windows is green and is beautifully paned. Notice the top corners with wonderful peasant faces. Large cup and cover legs are the perfect touch of charm for this bountiful bookcase. Wouldn’t this piece look amazing in your home? c-388oc109
