Antique Bretons Newspaper Table



This charming table comes to us from Brittany, a peninsula in Northern France. There a seafaring people known as the Bretons have lived for centuries. This small table was master crafted by one of the talented old world craftsmen from this wonderful province. Known as a newspaper table, tables such as these are often coupled with lamps and easy chairs for a quaint reading nook. This particular table is magnificent. Look at the carvings on the cabinet door; done in a circle pattern prevailing in Breton furniture, which represents the helm of a ship, these carvings are amazing.
