Antique Louis Xvi Oak Buffet
This is a buffet that will be a super show stopper! Anyone who sees this buffet will have to say "WOW!!!" First of all you have to be impressed with the incredible hand carvings on this piece of furniture. The style is Louis XVI which is typified by roses and garlands and there are plenty of those carved all over this buffet. Look at the top cornice and you will see the exquisite detail in the garlands and bows that are tied to them. Now look at the two front doors and you will see the same incredibly detailed carvings with a little more depth. The front door features paned beveled mirrors, in wonderful condition and absolutely gorgeous! In fact the entire buffet is in perfect condition, and considering they were probably made in the late 1800's, that is a super value! Notice the two side columns that have been lathe turned, and the pattern repeated with the columns that frame the two front doors on the bottom unit. Now look at the darloing little shelves that are framed with a balcony of tiny finials on either side, and the larger shelf just below also framed with finials. In the center piece, which is called the "entre deux" in French, meaning "between two" there is also a shelf framed with a balcony of tiny finials, so there is display space everywhere, with such charm and character that it will be a love affair for years and years and years to come! A quality piece of furniture like this with such beauty and skilled craftsmanship is a rare treasure and one that will give class and style to any spot in your home. Actually there are two of these buffets that are matching, and would be a fabulous set put together, depending on the space you have available. Anyway you look at them, they are just plain BEAUTIFUL!!!
