Antique Louis Xv Mirrored Vanity And Stool

Known as the Sun King, Louis XV reigned in France between 1715 and 1774. The style of furniture we associate with his name was essentially Rococo with soft, flowing lines, shell and flower ornamentation, rich upholstery, and inlaying. During this period the cabinet-makers use the curved line more freely, cabriole legs assume stronger curves, the arms, seat rails and framing of the backs of chairs are curved and elaborately carved. Tables are fancifully shaped and the legs, like the chair legs, exhibit more pronounced curves. It was almost impossible to find straight lines in the form of consoles, cabinets and cupboards, as well as in bureaus. The richest materials were used for upholstering. Gilding, painting, lacquer, Boulle inlay and marquetry continued favorite forms of decoration. The beautiful creations of this period were crafted to fit the lavish tastes of the Monarch. The perfect piece to compliment your master bedroom is found in this gorgeous vanity. An amazing scalloped tri-fold mirror graces this incredible piece.
